pumpkin carving/dad's birthday/retirment party

For so much happening this day, we got a surprising amount of pictures. Like five. We had lunch & pumpkin carving, then an early "Thanksgiving" lunch since we won't be together this year. In the early evening we headed to mom and dad's where they invited some friends for champagne and cake to toast dad's retirement. It was a fun busy day!
Gretchen & I usually end up doing most of the carving but everyone carved this year - even DAD, he hasn't gutted a pumpkin since we were kids!
I do this for faraway family, to keep you updated. I do it for the kids, who love to look at it, as I loved pouring over photo albums as a child. I do it for me, to track some of our footsteps; sometimes I feel like it's the one thing I can accomplish - and I have, since spring of 2006, a chronological flash of our lives...
