Lila's Birthday

heart-shaped waffles. Now, this next sequence needs explanation. You're wondering what could they be eating after waffles on Lila's birthday morning. Well, at 10:30 am, just before we were leaving the house, the doorbell rang, and there was the very kind FedEx man holding a cold box with Lila's name on it. Inside was a giant caramel apple rolled in m&m's and drizzled in frosting. They're both staring at it, and at me, wide-eyed. Their expressions are clearly reading "what is it, and can we have it?". Well, darnit, since the Chermaks sent it, and since it's your birthday, and we're having cake this evening so we don't want to double-up, and since you're both looking at me like this, and there's noone else here to be the bad guy... why the heck not. I gave them each one heavenly slice and what followed was the 11 quietest minutes of motherhood thus far. But really, thank you Judy and Howard and Gaga - it made for a very special & sweet morning.
Zoe & Gretchen came for the day, which made it extra-special, bringing balloons and bracelets and lots of love. That evening we went to NY Pizza for dinner. Lila's request. And then home for more celebration.
Grampa.
Bill & Marsha.Auntie G and Zoe (in case you don't recognize her with straightened hair).

Holding her hair back so it doesn't catch on fire. Hope I didn't give her a complex.

Just ice cream please - his father's son. Dad's lookin' good, dontcha think?
